The encyclopedia contains essays and short entries written by leading scholars of American Jewish history and culture. It makes the 350 years of American Jewish Experience accessible to scholars, students and the reading public. The editors will be discussing how Boston fits into this history as well as discuss their findings that include:
“American Jews have had a major impact on literature, music, art, sports, and numerous forms of popular culture, including film and theater. Their imprint on various academic fields, such as psychoanalysis and psychology, anthropology, the physical sciences, and economics, has been far-reaching. They have been especially prominent in social movements, including labor, civil rights, and feminism, as well as in political movements from Left to Right. The Encyclopedia examines American Jews’ experiences and impact in all these areas and many more.
A discussion and book signing will take place after the presentation.
